A Nice email debate with someone on voting for lesser of 2 evils
Posted by Gail at Saturday, October 04, 2008Don't even try to guess who the other person is most of you don't even know
this person.
--------
Mcain is not the pro life advocate people think he is.
1. he voted for pro-abortion justice, Stephen Breyer, and the radical, pro-abortion, ACLU attorney, Ruth Bader Ginsburg
2. he is ok with abortion if it is inset or rape. When asked how he would determine if a woman was raped before deciding if they could get an abortion he just answered oh we could tell.
Leaving an out for anyone wanting an abortion they could just say i was raped and get one if they wanted it. I am voting for either alan keyes or baptist chuck baldwin. I want to vote for huckabee but can't since mcain is the republican nomiee.
i know people will say i am wasting my vote but i disagree
a principled vote that challenges the status quo is never a wasted vote. A wasted vote is the useless contention of voting for the lesser of two evils expecting any thing other than continued evil
my 2 cents

Yes, Mcain is a tough sell for real conservative's to get behind.
I also have many beefs with Mcain:
1- Rescue plan pork spending, he never should have given in against his core platform.
he is very week on economic understanding.
2- Campaign Finance Reform
3- Social Spending
4- Education
so on and so on.
But,
You better understand what Obama's platform is.
You better do your homework and understand that socialism, yes mainstream socialism is his platform.
You better understand what his global objectives are and where he feels the U.S. fits in.
You better understand his stance on nationalizing the private sector and corporate America.
You better understand he will make all U.S. businesses pay the largest corporate tax in the world.
You better understand the alliances he is for in the Middle East.
You better understand his plan to force, yes, force all Americans to "buy" yes "buy" into a nationalized health care system.
You better know that John Mcain has a strong backing of Israel, stronger than Huckabee, Romney, and the rest of canidates in the Republican primaries.
You better understand Obama wants to mandate, yes mandate community service.
You better understand Obama purpose's to eliminate all choices in education, including state rights and home schooling.
You need to understand Obama's position on abortion. He does not think we go far enough in the right to "choose".You need to understand that yes, I agree, we need to vote our conscious and stop making concessions, but in this case, if we allow socialism to grab hold of
our policy making, we the USA will go down a path that we can not legislate back.

I know about obama, and I am not voting for obama. To me voting for mcain is not right for me, i mean what is next 4 years from now
Rudy G is the republican candidate? or even worse? Are you going to continue to vote for the lesser of two evils because they are in a party that USED to hold christian values. how long to you continue to vote for lesser of the two?
where do you draw the line? hopefully it is not just oh well i guess i'll vote republican? (all rhetorical questions)
I think mcain will be a socialist as well. His record speaks for itself.
Bottom line for me is i try to vote on biblical principals and let God sort the rest out.
For me the number 1 issue is and always will be about Human life. if i aligned perfectly with John Mcain on everything except abortion i still would not vote for him. He is very weak on abortion.
This is the first time i have not voted republican, hopefully the last
"if we allow socialism to grab hold of
our policy making, we the USA will go down a path that we can not legislate back."
We are headed this way regardless of who gets elected i totally believe that. Remember mcain's real choice for VP was JOE Liberman!!
You think he is really going to look to sara palin for advice? His advisors picked her.
If christians would just take a stand and vote on values we would not be in this mess. Instead they do not put their faith in God like they should
and vote for what they think is the best without consulting God about it. I am no better than anyone else, I just can't vote for him.
I am not trying to convince you who to vote for, i thought it would interest you.
below is a good article my pastor wrote a while ago.

All I am saying is, that just like the Roman Empire, democracy (Republics) are doomed to failure. I still believe it is the greatest form of government, but
it will always, yes always turn corrupt. When you "give" to gain power, and go against the knowledge of the common good. Then this system will always fail.
Democracy is DOOMED to failure. All we can do is pray, and choose to slow the inevitable. I.E. "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" . Weather
you believe that voting for another candidate, "Independent or Libertarian" will send a message to base of your party is not the issue; the situation is what it is.
Votes for the 3rd party, depending, on the issues of the day, DO result in the election of the "Worst Choice".
-------
GT
So then you will always vote for the lesser of two evils, Voting for the lesser of two evils is still evil.
I try to get as far away from evil as i can.
I am not trying to send anyone a message, i am voting on principals.
Nowhere in the bible does God say to vote or do the lesser of 2 evils.
Choosing between a phony conservative Republican and an honest liberal Democrat is no choice at all
"Votes for the 3rd party, depending, on the issues of the day, DO result in the election of the "Worst Choice"."
Voting for a party or person who does not hold the principles anywhere near I do results in even worse in my opinion.
I stand by my principles which are biblicaly based as best as this feeble man's can be, plain and simple.
That's not always an easy thing! I am voting on faith, not fear of what might happen if obama gets in.
Honestly i fear just as much if mcain gets in.
"voting the lesser of two evils is a deception. No matter which of the two major parties is in charge, the national debt still increases, taxes still burden us, abortions continue, and liberties are still being lost. Republican candidates many times are going the same direction as Democrats, What we need is not a change of drivers, but a change of direction"
a principled vote that challenges the status quo is never a wasted vote.
A wasted vote is the useless contention of voting for the lesser
of two evils expecting any thing other than continued evil.
I'll end this nice conversation (seriously) with this
Mark 8:36-37
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

I am not against what your saying.
I agree with 99%
The point I am making is after the primary there are only 2 candidates left, unless you vote 3rd party.
If you truly think the 3rd party nominee is worthy of your vote, then vote for him.
All I am saying is there is only a limited # of candidates to vote on in the national election.
Mcain was not my pick. I liked Ron Paul better than Mcain, at least he is a strict constitutionalist. But he did not get the nomination.
So If you can't vote for Mcain, who can you vote for?
------------------
Chuck Baldwin or Alan Keyes I know they won't win but i said my peace on that.

http://www.alankeyes.com/
Baldwin is actually coming to Milford Baptist on Tuesday he is a baptist preacher.

Yes, I like Alan Keys. I was mad, back 8 years ago, when they blocked him from the primary debates.
I do not know Chuck Baldwin.
This is what Doug Newman, another blog of the person you sent me a link to, says he is going to do.
So you write in Ron Paul – which I plan to do — or you vote for a candidate from a third – or should I say a non-privileged? – party and you wind up losing. Big friggin’ deal. If your worldview is a Christian one, you would realize that there are more important things than winning elections and attaining dominance in the kingdoms of this world. Your duty as a Christian is to do what is righteous, not what is fashionable in the world’s eyes. You will be able to sleep at night knowing that you did not aid and abet the criminal class that has ruled this country since at least 1913.
Because we are forced to make a choice does not align us with evil...
He likes Ron Paul just like me, but it is a choice we all have to make.
write in votes, do not do anything (in my opinion). So many times christian are not involved in politics because we are being shut out. Sometimes we may distain the choices, but we still have to pull a lever. I do not look at it as a lesser of 2 evils, but the best choice of the given canidates.
---
he can't write in ron paul since paul ran under the republican ticket. If that were the case i would vote for him or huckabee.
see here for write in rules for each state http://mfoster.com/misc/wr
"Sometimes we may distain the choices, but we still have to pull a lever. I do not look at it as a lesser of 2 evils, but the best choice of the given candidates."
With that logic we should rob the rich and greedy and give it to the poor and needy.
I believe you are in the minority thinking John Mcain is not an evil(lesser of two evils) choice for a Christians. Even Christians that are voting for him admit he is the lesser or two evils.
a lot of my christian friends are still going to vote for mcain even though they agree with me on what i think of him.
"Because we are forced to make a choice does not align us with evil..."
Who is forcing you to vote for mcain? choose right!
to vote for it does nothing to impede it. Seriously think about it you and I both know mcain has very few christian values if any. if christians would stand up and choose right we would have a better president. Instead they got scared of what they saw in a christian president Bush and thought they would try a more liberal republican candidate in mcain.
Really when do christians stop voting party lines and choose right? The sooner the better!
"I would rather be an uncompromising Christian than a lapdog of a party that no longer represents my biblical or constitutional beliefs. I have no anxiety as to the outcome of this election. The Lord already knows who the next president will be. I pray it’s neither obama or mcain and that the Lord would see fit to raise up a generation of courageous Christians that can change the course of the election by voting for a biblically qualified candidate. Wouldn’t that show the nation how mighty our God is?!! No matter what, the Lord is in control and I rest in that knowledge."
2 chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land
I hope you are taking all of this as just my opinion and not a personal attack on you or your viewpoints.
Emails are tough to judge sometimes.
