First let me state by no means to I think I am better than anyone else here this is just my perspective.
Keeping that in mind here goes.
My wife and I do not teach our children that santa is real, however if you know us at all and have seen any of our holiday pics that lisa has taken and other vids you know we take the boys to see santa.
I see this as no different then letting them see Scooby doo or dora at Kings Island. They are not real, they know it as much as a 2 ½ year old can understand..
Growing up my parents never taught me Santa was real, that he gets you presents if you are good etc etc.
Mind you I do not feel deprived of anything at all. I was able to go sit on santa’s lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas like any other child.
We have been teaching Nolan for a while now that God makes trees, flowers, the sun and the moon etc. Only lately when we ask him who made this or that he says SANTA!!!. We gently laugh and say no silly God made it. We’ve never told him santa made anything, somehow somewhere he picked that up. Now when you ask him sometimes he will say Santa and just laugh and say no santa’s pretend, he’s not real, God is real. Now we don’t snarl or yell at Nolan if he does these things we enjoy it, nor do we “preach” at him about it. he’s only 2 ½.
We don’t teach the boys that santa gives them presents because what possible good is there in doing so? For one you may have to explain to them (possibly crying kid) one day santa is not real. My mom didn’t find this out till she was 10 or so something like that. To me promoting that santa gives our children gifts takes away from the ultimate reason for the season. My personal conviction is that teaching our children that Santa is real and brings them presents is the ultimate insult to God. Here’s why God graciously provides me a job that, provides me money to provide a home, food and yes to buy gifts for the kids.
For me nothing is added by telling our kids santa is real, but plenty is taken away from God by telling them santa provided the gifts. If you really want to go deeper the whole idea of santa is that if you are good you get presents, when in reality God provides Christians and even the unsaved with great gifts regardless how wicked or evil we can be.
I am so thankful I am not rewarded based on how good I am or should I say AM NOT!
For me to say that even the smallest gift comes from santa would take the ultimate glory from God. We are blessed because of God’s wonderful grace not due to anything of man.

Christmas each year there are always those who loudly decry the use of the abbreviation "Xmas" as some kind of blasphemy against Christ and Christianity. This concern has been elevated recently with the public debates about manger scenes and the substitution of "holiday" for Christmas in stores and government venues. Among religious folks, the objection to Xmas is usually along the line that people have taken Christ out of Christmas and replaced him with an unknown (since the Greek letter chi, [C,c] which looks like the English letter x, is the symbol for an unknown quantity in mathematics).
The exact origin of the single letter X for Christ cannot be pinpointed with certainty. Some claim that it began in the first century AD along with the other symbols, but evidence is lacking. Others think that it came into widespread use by the thirteenth century along with many other abbreviations and symbols for Christianity and various Christian ideas that were popular in the Middle Ages. However, again, the evidence is sparse.
In any case, by the fifteenth century Xmas emerged as a widely used symbol for Christmas. In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press with moveable type. I just finished the book Raising a Modern Day Knight. (I got it for $5 including shipping) It’s a book for fathers about raising sons. It was good I’d give it a B overall. I like Reb Bradley’s book better.
Anyway the premise of the book is how fathers can truly teach their sons to be men. The main idea is a Man needs to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously, and expect the greater reward (Joy).
I am blessed to say my dad like almost all of my friend’s dads did these things..
The author of this book Robert Lewis did not have that blessing. After reading this book it helped remind me how GREAT a blessing having a Godly father truly is for a son.
To put it in perspective let me paraphrase some of the stories about the author’s dad:
- Robert had numerous division 1 football scholarship offers from big time schools he ended up going to Arkansas. His dad did not help him whatsoever in the process of choosing what school to attend. The only thing his dad told him was “it’s your decision”.
- The guys dad missed his own sons wedding, he had a good reason he was too drunk at home!
- One Night long after all the kids had moved out, Robert’s dad was drunk and wanted to go out for more drinks his mom tried to stop him from leaving to go drinking, he pushed his wife away as he was walking out the door. Unaware he had made her hit her head on the coffee table and broke her neck! Dad stayed out drinking all night went straight to work the next day and got the news, he had a heart attack on the spot. While in the hospital his son came to visit, dad was so out of it he thought his son was the DR and started telling him how many mistakes he made in his life, and how proud he was of his son that was a pastor and how he loved him. This was the first time Robert had EVER heard these things from his dad! After his dad realized who was standing in front of him Robert witnessed to his dad for over an hour, by the grace of God his dad was saved.
- The night of the accident Robert was at the church He pastored. There meeting was about prayer, the question was asked what is the one thing you want to trust God to do that you think is absolutely impossible?

My point of all of this is no matter what trials and tribulations you may be going through God is in control. It’s hard to accept some times.
1 Samuel 2:
9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
If we are able to participate in raising Godly children it will bring great joy to us. So far I can totally attest to this. Even though Nolan and Nathaniel are so young. I pray that 20 years from now this will still hold true…

This is a good article explaining both sides of the proposed auto industry bailout.
I am not for any kind of government bailout for any company. They put themselves in this position, for many reasons including WAYYY overpaid CEO's, inability to compete with foreign car companies and many other reasons. I am saying this as my grandfather (who is still living at 93) two of my uncles, my father-in-law (all which are retired) and many other people i know worked for GM or Ford.
I just don't think the government should bail out a company that created it's own mess.
As you can see the bank bailout has caused a domino effect, now the auto industry wants a bailout, then what all the Airlines want one, then what Toy companies? I mean hey if people lose jobs they can't buy kids toys so you may as well bail them out too right? I know the argument oh we will lose jobs, if they are in this bad a shape they may be destined to fail anyway. I say take a wait and see approach. The auto industry needs to figure this out for themselves, if that means they start over from scratch then so be it.
If we keep this up sooner or later the government will control everything which is what the new president elect seems to want!

I recently exchanged emails with my old high school football coach mike gims.
One thing I can say about him is for all the coaches I had in all the sports I played from elementary on up is coach gims was a good christian testimony as a coach. I am not saying that all the other coaches had terrible testimonies, but Coach Gims exemplified it. He also stressed how we needed to keep christ first and that football will not matter in a few years.
I had been surprised to learn he was no longer coaching high school(he had been coaching for over 15 years) he had moved on to coach college. I thought cool. I played for coach gims for 3 years when I was a freshmen he was an assistant and then sophomore and junior year were his first two years as a head coach. He was always trying to be innovative sometimes it worked like our run and gun offense which was not common in High School those days. Then sometimes it didn't like running the lonesome polecat a few too many times :). He made his mark with the run and gun and improved upon it and I am pretty sure that is how he was able to move up the coaching ranks.
In his email, He shared with me that he was having his entire team of college players read the book raising a modern day knight. That's coach, always stressing the importance of keeping christ first! here he is trying to help men be fathers, and they don't even have kids yet! Oddly coach has 2 or 3 girls and no boys. The book is for fathers on how to raise their sons to be Godly men. It's also where I got the title for this blog. Knowing I have two sons of my own he suggested i pick up a copy. Finally last week I went ahead and ordered mine. I have read the first 3 or 4 chapters and I like it so far. It's an easy read, if i have the time I should knock this book out in no time.
Thanks for the tip coach, you never quit coaching do ya? If you are still coaching in 18 years i have two boys you should look at :)

There are thousands of people in Europe who have been ignored and suppressed, that could passionately warn naïve Americans about the insidious dangers of Socialism. Two German ladies came to Morning Star Baptist Church and shared with me the dire situation of this upcoming election. The one lady was eleven years old when Adolph Hitler came to power, and she said in sober tones, “you Americans are about to make a grave mistake” she continued “Socialism is very close to Fascism and it will Destroy America!”Allow me to share ten reasons why I am NOT a Socialist.
1. Socialism disguises itself to level the economical playing field, but in reality, the middle and lower income brackets are penalized when the wealthy are overtaxed.
2. Socialism has proven historically that Communism is the goal. Because Socialism cannot achieve its tenets unless there exists an increase of totalitarian control from the Government.
3. Socialism preys on the sympathies of the wealthy convincing them that Egalitarianism is humanitarian and your civic duty. In actuality, voluntary charity through churches and non-profit agencies is a better way. Americans stopped giving after FDR’s New Deal was implemented in 1933. Legislating donations destroys the spirit of giving.
4. Socialism encourages class envy. The middle and lower income classes ought to be thankful for the wealthy because they spend their money, create jobs, and they help stabilize the economy. Envy and jealous suspicion are counterproductive.

While in a Dry Cleaning store the owners, with Vietnamese nationality, began to quiz me about the up-coming Election. We shared views about the dangerous shift that America is taking to the left, and then the husband and wife, with a look of amazement asked, “Why are Americans so stupid!?” I was stunned for a moment … and then I admitted that this question has plagued me for years.
Now I would like to answer their question. It is because the Sovereign God of heaven has given many over to a reprobate mind. Allow me to explain.
1. This great country was built on Biblical principles and on Judeo-Christian ethics, yet the Government took away the schoolroom from the parents and churches; and allowed Dewey to replace all Biblical curriculum (.i.e. – McGuffy Readers).
2. The US Government then took prayer and the Ten Commandments away from the teachers and students with the help of the NEA.
3. The infamous Supreme Court then passed the Roe-versus-Wade decision and 3,000 babies are legally killed a day in our fifty states.
4. George Bush, Sr. sent Ambassadors to the Vatican in Rome establishing national diplomacy with a “harmless” church.
5. Liberal pandering to the gay agenda became increasingly grotesque as early as 1980, and now we see the sanctity of marriage threatened.
6. Christian symbols such as Ten Commandments in stone and nativity scenes are removed to satisfy the intense hated of Atheistic Liberals.
7. And in general, Biblical Christians are the only people that are mocked, ridiculed, and slandered in the Media and public forum without fear of reprisal.
Is it no wonder that we have Terrorist attacks, school massacres, a Sodomite Epidemic, high Divorce, highest teen suicide, unsecured borders, and the worse economic collapse since 1929??
Is it any wonder that millions of voters will vote symbolism over substance? Is it clear then that this country is rotting from within from a spiritual rebellion against God!?
God will not apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah, and once a nation is given over to a lawless reprobate mind, the only cure is wide spread repentance.
The sure cure for such insanity is the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If America will not repent then there is no hope.

This upcoming election has really been eating at me. For as long as I have been able to vote when someone were to ask me if I was Republican or Democrat I would answer “I don’t vote party lines I vote on issues and try to use biblical principles when deciding who or what to vote for and I generally find that is with the republican party”. I even tell this to the poll workers when voting and they ask me. I get funny looks but I don’t care. My dad taught me through many of his sermons years ago vote what is right and Godly and let God take care of the rest he is in control.

I am voting on biblical principals, as I hope you are as well.
Nowhere in the Bible does God say to vote or do the lesser of 2 evils.
Choosing between a phony conservative Republican and liberal Democrat is no choice at all. Voting for a party or person who does not hold the principles anywhere near what the Bible teaches results in a nation moving ever farther away from God.
I stand by my principles which are biblically based as best as this feeble minded man's can be, plain and simple.
Many Christians make statements like if I don’t vote for X Candidate even though I know they do not hold anywhere near the same biblical principals then someone worse may get in. I feel this relates well to Mark 8.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Like most of you (I assume) I voted for George W. Bush a man I believe did not do many of the things he set out to do in office. I voted for him because he claims and evidences point that he is Christian. He claims to hold some of the same biblical principles I do, though VERY far off in doctrine!! The fact that he did not seem to carry out many of the things he wanted to do while in office is certainty debatable, and maybe not totally his fault.
I believe (humanly speaking) if Christians would just take a stand and vote on biblical values instead of party lines our country (Lord willing) would not be in such a mess. Instead many do not put their faith in God like they should, and vote for what they think is the best without truly consulting God about it.

I will never expect a candidate (unless it is me, and as of this year I am eligible to be president) to be lined up with me 100% on all issues but they better line up 100% on the ones that are clear in the Bible, mainly Abortion,embryonic stem cell research, and Homosexuality. Then and only then will I worry about their beliefs on other issues. Yes I know candidates talk the talk, and we never really know what they will do until they get in office, I can only take what they say with a grain of salt, look at their record and PRAY PRAY PRAY!!!.
My personal convictions tell me I cannot vote Obama or Mcain
I told Lisa when the initial primary debates started that if either Rudy Giuliani or John Mcain win the primary, I will not vote for them, because their stance on abortion is so weak. Then came Sara Palin a women who seems to hold some of the same values I do, I pondered and prayed what to do. I could go on and on about not voting for Mcain but I digress. My bottom line(besides his historically weak abortion stance) on why not to vote for Mcain came down to:
1. Palin was not Mcain’s first choice (Joe Liberman was!) which leaves me to believe that Palin may not influence Mcain as much as people think.
2. Voting for John Mcain will not elect Sara Palin President.
3. Most of all After much prayer about who I should vote for a friend introduced me to another Presidential candidate who holds the same values as I do, I believe this candidate is the right choice for me. Chuck Baldwin

I do not have any faith whatsoever that Barack Obama or John Mcain are going to lead this country down the right path, I don’t even think they will make an attempt to! Do you?
Yes I know without divine intervention, the candidate I vote for will not win, but that is not my concern. You can’t tell me you know for sure if who you vote for will win either. I pray neither Obama nor Mcain get in. I don’t expect that to be the case (lack of faith I guess), but is our church still praying for a million dollars??
Does this mean if you vote for Mcain you are wrong? I don’t know that’s between you and God. , if you are convicted about something and someone else is not, it may not be a sin for the person who has a different conviction.
For me personally to vote for Mcain would be wrong.
Sorry for my rant, I only share this because when I was struggling with what to do a friend helped me and I didn’t really ask him too, I just prayed.
I hope this did not come across as prideful or arrogant in anyway I am only sharing what has been on my heart for several weeks now. I surely do not think I am better than any of you because of a different stance I may take.

Another unsatisfying argument is that certain entities have to be bailed out because of their economic importance. Supposedly, some entities can be so big, so important, that no matter what they do, citizens must perpetually sustain them.
Even limited government has a basic duty to defend against force and fraud. Some argue that force is somehow permissible just because the entity engaging in it is "economically significant." But one could use this reasoning to prop up slavery. It could be deemed unfortunate but economically beneficial, and indeed these arguments have been used historically to deprive people of their liberty. But slavery should never be tolerated regardless of any economic benefit, just as systemic fraud should not be tolerated. Some banks on Wall Street should fail. Fannie and Freddie should fail. They are perpetrating fraud against the people. Yet, government insists on rewarding behavior which should instead be investigated, prosecuted, and punished.

What would Congressman Paul's bill do? It would do two things: 1) It would define life as beginning at conception and, thus, declare the personhood of every pre-born child. 2) Under Article. III. Section. 2. of the U.S. Constitution, it would remove abortion from the jurisdiction of the Court. In practical terms, Dr. Paul's bill would overturn Roe v. Wade and end legal abortion-on-demand. So, where was John McCain? Why did he not support Ron Paul's bill and introduce a companion bill in the U.S. Senate?
How can John McCain, and his fellow Republicans in Washington, D.C., look pro-life Christians and conservatives in the eye in 2008 and expect that we take them seriously when they say that they are "pro-life"? They controlled the White House, the U.S. Senate, and the House of Representatives for six long years, for goodness sake. The reason they did not do it is because they did not want to do it. The vast majority of notable "pro-life" leaders in the country are now trumpeting the candidacy of John McCain. And the best challenge they can come up with is "McCain better not pick a 'pro-choice' Vice President." Oh, shut up (to quote Jay Leno)!
John McCain openly embraces embryonic stem cell research. In 2000, he boldly said he did not favor the overturn of Roe v. Wade. John McCain was a member of the infamous "Gang of 14" senators from both parties whose purpose was to oppose pro-life, strict constructionist judges.
Speaking of judges, John McCain voted for the pro-abortion justice, Stephen Breyer, and the radical, pro-abortion, ACLU attorney, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. So much for the argument that we need John McCain for the sake of appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court. For that matter, Republican appointments dominated the Court that gave us Roe v. Wade and the one that later gave us Doe v. Bolton. Proving, once again, that the Republican Party, as a whole, has no real commitment to the life issue."

I got my latest Asp.Net Pro mag yesterday I noticed a review for IronSpeed Designer for Asp.net easy developement. I was surprised at how much they liked the product. Mcain is not the pro life advocate people think he is.

I also have many beefs with Mcain:
1- Rescue plan pork spending, he never should have given in against his core platform.
he is very week on economic understanding.
2- Campaign Finance Reform
3- Social Spending
4- Education
so on and so on.
But,
You better understand what Obama's platform is.
You better do your homework and understand that socialism, yes mainstream socialism is his platform.
You better understand what his global objectives are and where he feels the U.S. fits in.
You better understand his stance on nationalizing the private sector and corporate America.
You better understand he will make all U.S. businesses pay the largest corporate tax in the world.
You better understand the alliances he is for in the Middle East.
You better understand his plan to force, yes, force all Americans to "buy" yes "buy" into a nationalized health care system.
You better know that John Mcain has a strong backing of Israel, stronger than Huckabee, Romney, and the rest of canidates in the Republican primaries.
You better understand Obama wants to mandate, yes mandate community service.
You better understand Obama purpose's to eliminate all choices in education, including state rights and home schooling.
You need to understand Obama's position on abortion. He does not think we go far enough in the right to "choose".You need to understand that yes, I agree, we need to vote our conscious and stop making concessions, but in this case, if we allow socialism to grab hold of
our policy making, we the USA will go down a path that we can not legislate back.

The point I am making is after the primary there are only 2 candidates left, unless you vote 3rd party.
If you truly think the 3rd party nominee is worthy of your vote, then vote for him.
All I am saying is there is only a limited # of candidates to vote on in the national election.
Mcain was not my pick. I liked Ron Paul better than Mcain, at least he is a strict constitutionalist. But he did not get the nomination.

I believe you are in the minority thinking John Mcain is not an evil(lesser of two evils) choice for a Christians. Even Christians that are voting for him admit he is the lesser or two evils.

The next President will either make or break the heart of America. President Bush has had
tremendous pressure on him as a wartime president. His tenure has been on high alert and has
lasted longer than Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. So who will be the next Commander and
Chief? Who will do the voting? Will illegal aliens with valid driver’s licenses help to decide the
outcome? Will liberal population clusters, where those who are out of step with main stream
America ( I might add, out of step with American Heritage) bend the nation to their will? Praise the
Lord that our nation’s forefathers foresaw the need for an Electoral College!

I am a Christian who votes his conscience not his wallet. I am guided by my principles and my
principles are forged in the Bible, not by the mores of society. It is not about Republican versus
Democrat, rather Constitutional Republic versus Socialism.
Who should I vote for? We must remember that in the Sovereign Providence of God, He sets up
one king and He puts down another. I have a privileged responsibility to vote. God may have

There is a sense in which I believe that we need to have a house cleaning of the Senate and the
Congress on the Federal and State level. The Declaration of Independence states:

such principles and organizing its powers in such form as to them shall seem most likely to
effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Rome was an Empire until President Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon declaring himself the
Emperor. Our Central Government has been trashing State Rights since the War Between the
States, and we are still in a Civil War!
We need a godly revolt. Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of liberty must be nourished, from time
to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Jefferson also said, “The spirit of resistance to
government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often
be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now
and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere.”
Praise God for the “Bloodless transfer of power” every four years. Nevertheless, the dumbing
down of the American people and the stealing of true historical America from lazy minds,
creates a democratic mob rule that will eventually destroy this great Republic. As Winston
Churchill said: Democracy is the worse form of Government, but it is better than all the others.”
So what are we to do? "The people cannot be all, and always, well-informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they
remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public
liberty."

If voting for the right man this November throws away my vote, then so be it! I am weary of
the moderate placating of Republicans, who are more concerned about the liberal media and the
delusional liberals, than they are with keeping their campaign promises and conservative values.
The Democrats do not scare me anymore. If Hillary and Obama become the dynamic Duo and
win the presidency, then maybe there will be a revival of courage among true Americans? Maybe
or maybe not?

1. One who is committed to Pro-Life and to overturning Roe-vs-Wade
2. One who is committed to the Sanctity of marriage and is against the ridiculous Gay
Agenda.
3. One who protects the Second Amendment and stiffens punishment towards gun
offenders.
4. One who will support capital punishment against Rapists, Pedophiles, and the like,
after a judicious trial procedure.
5. A man who will take tough measures to extradite illegal aliens and increase border
control, and tell the truth about Islamic followers and Jihadists.
6. A man that will support the fair tax laws, and seek a time line to eradicate the IRS.
7. A man that will eventually get us out of the United Nations, which has created more
Wars than solved them.
8. A man that will take strong measures to rid us from dependency of OPEC oil.
9. A president that has the moral courage to stop abetting our enemies and declare our
allegiance to our friends. - .ie - Israel.
10. And the man that I will be 100% behind in my prayers and support, is the man who
invokes the blessings of God, by leading with godly example and public policy, and that
does not penalize Churches, Religious schools, and traditional families.
Where is such a candidate? Such a champion espousing my views would not be tolerated by
either party.
By now my critics and friends can conclude who I am not voting for. Oh that
George Washington, John Adams, or even a Ronald Reagan could resurrect from
their smoldering graves.
We need a president that will send Terrorists a strong message by severely dealing with twits as
Osama Bin Laden, because he attacked us! But after this, we must repudiate a Global Cultic
mentality!!
John Quincy Adams, author of the Monroe Doctrine and sixth president of the “united” States
quite agreed. "America... does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is wellwisher
to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her
own."
Dear Patriot, our Freedoms are about gone. However, I believe that God-fearing patriots have
yet to begin to fight. I will vote this November, but I will pray and brace myself, because the
Sun is setting fast on Franklin’s new Republic. It was great while it lasted, and I will continue to
preach, pray, protest and promote the greatest Kingdom on Earth -
